Barn Close Surgery is an NHS general medical practice committed to delivering modern, high quality general practice to the local community from our well equipped surgery in the heart of Broadway village.

Our doctors, nurses and all our other staff are dedicated to offering a professional service and this surgery website will help us to keep all our patients up to date with news and information about our practice. We will keep it current with any developments or other details that we feel are relevant to you.

Please have a look around and do send us some feedback if you like. We can use your ideas to improve our online services and further develop the content of this site.

From Monday 18th September 2017 we will no longer be able to prescribe Gluten Free Products, Baby milk formula and certain Oral Nutritional Supplements. There is also new guidance on "Over the Counter" medications which we will also no longer be able to prescribe.

Accountable GP

We are obliged by Government to ensure that all patients have a "Named Accountable GP"

ALL patients of Barn Close Surgery have ALWAYS had a named accountable GP so there will be no need for any concern.

You are free to see whichever GP at the surgery you wish, but there will be a specific GP who you were registered with when you joined the practice, and you will have been informed of that at the time of registration.

If for any reason you want to know who your "Named GP" is, then please enquire the next time you are at the surgery.

If there are any particular "preferences" for your nominated GP, then please put this in writing to the practice where we shall try and accommodate your wishes.

However, this makes NO difference to the care you receive or the GP you usually consult with.

Please DO NOT request medical advice or try to contact or pass any information to any of the doctors via any forms/email addresses that you may find on this website.

The GPs have made a decision not to deal with any medical queries or information requests for medical advice via email. This is because confidentiality cannot be guaranteed and there is no way of knowing when an email will be read.

If you need medical advice or if you need to give information to your GP, then please make an appointment to see your doctor.

Medical Students

Barn Close Surgery has been a teaching practice for medical students since 2008. Dr John Hughes and Dr Emma Billings are the tutors for final year medical students from the Medical School of Birmingham University.

It is a real privilege to have some responsibility for the training of the next generation of doctors, and patients too can do their bit in helping train tomorrow's doctors.

We have students with us regularly throughout the year for a 5 week training block. If you have an appointment to see Dr Billings or Dr Hughes during that time, you may be asked if you would mind seeing our medical student. You would always see the GP as well.

We have an excellent reputation and are still in contact with some of our previous students. We get excellent feedback from the University and from our patients. Please help us to continue this important work.
